Valo is designed around the needs of passengers and aviation operators, combining capacity for up to six passengers with generous luggage space and a flexible cabin. Its passenger capacity and efficient electric propulsion are designed to support attractive operating economics, while offering a quieter, more comfortable way to travel.

Vertical is developing a common Valo platform for all-electric civil, hybrid-electric civil and optionally piloted hybrid-electric defence aircraft. Sharing core technology across reduces development duplication and expands the addressable market – from shorter passenger journeys to longer-range transport and defence missions.

Valo is being developed to meet the UK CAA and EASA’s highest aviation safety standards for this aircraft category. This certification approach is intended to support subsequent approvals in other major markets, including FAA, ANAC, and JCAB, positioning Vertical to serve international customers and build a global aircraft business.

Vertical’s piloted prototypes have completed full transition between vertical flight and wingborne cruise, alongside repeated public flight demonstrations at Farnborough. These milestones provide tangible evidence of progress and valuable flight-test data, helping the team refine the aircraft and reduce technical risk as it advances towards certification.

Vertical develops its own battery packs and battery management technology, retaining control over a critical aircraft system. Beyond initial aircraft sales, battery replacements, upgrades and aircraft support offer opportunities for recurring revenue throughout the aircraft’s operating life, with potential applications across civil and defence aviation.

Vertical’s business model centres on developing, manufacturing, and supporting aircraft for established operators. An experienced aviation team and leading aerospace suppliers support this approach, while an international order book – including American Airlines, Japan Airlines, AirAsia and GOL – provides a foundation for future commercial deployment.
